People carry their laptops with them everywhere. While carrying cases make them easy to tote around, they don’t guarantee all the dust in the air won’t penetrate the case and get into your laptop. Add that to the typical smudges and dust exposure seen when you use your laptop, and it’s easy to see why you need to clean it. You can clean your laptop yourself, and all you need is a bottle of isopropyl alcohol and a can of compressed air.
Grab a small, clean baby food jar. Fill it half full of your isopropyl alcohol and fill the other half with water. It makes a great cleaning solution for laptops. If you want to use it right away, you can. If you want to save it and clean later, screw the baby food jar lid on tightly and store it in a cool, dry area.
Make sure your laptop is off and unplugged from the wall when you decide to clean it. Pour a small amount of your laptop cleaning solution onto a lint free cloth, and then wipe down your laptop. Apply more cleaning solution to your cloth as needed. Use caution when cleaning the screen. The cleaning solution will help remove fingerprints and smudges from the laptop screen. However, it’s important to rub gently because the screen is very delicate. Even though you’ll wipe most of the cleaning solution away, some may remain on your laptop. Allow it to dry completely before proceeding.
Spray the entire surface of your laptop with your can of compressed air. Use a cotton swab to remove any dist that accumulates between the keys of your keyboard. Make sure you spray between every key on the keyboard and inside all of the ports on the side of your laptop. Remove dust from the CD/DVD drive by spraying it, too, with compressed air.
